In the far north of the Scottish Highlands, where the wind whispers through ruined crofts and ancient stones, Francesca "Chess" Beckett enjoys a quiet life of gardening, dog walks, and tea with friends. Produktbeschreibung
In the far north of the Scottish Highlands, where the wind whispers through ruined crofts and ancient stones, Francesca "Chess" Beckett enjoys a quiet life of gardening, dog walks, and tea with friends. But when her endearing (and slightly dozy) English Pointer, Dannyboy, begins to react to things no one else can see-or hear-Chess realizes that something spectral may be stirring in the heathered hills.

Bagpipe music drifts through the air with no source, old stones hold unsettling energy, and Dannyboy refuses to pass through a particular gate without protest. As a group of strangers are spotted near a nearby ruin and Dannyboy narrowly escapes a dog-napping, it becomes clear that someone-or something-is watching.

With a close-knit circle of dog-loving friends, a pack of perceptive canines, and her unshakable bond with Dannyboy, Chess embarks on a heartfelt and haunting journey into the local history of lost lives, Highland Clearances, and a love that may have lasted beyond a lifetime.

Autorenporträt
I was an English and music teacher many years ago but started to write about twelve years ago. I wrote three books which are also on the above link about my Pointer dog and are cozy mysteries. I wrote some children's books also about dogs and then wrote a lot of cozy mysteries for Lirios publishing as a ghost writer.

I then started ten years ago to write clean western romances for a man with a publishing company in Greece. I did fifty for him of 80000 words each and finally a few weeks ago decided that the stress of a deadline was just too much. I am old 82-but my brain still works thank goodness.

I love writing and I can do that sitting down. I have 12 elderly dogs at home, and I also make websites for doggy folk and some dog clubs. I live in the far north of Scotland in Caithness.
