Know who your friends are...

On a holiday escape to the Greek islands, Annie Buchanan discovers what - and then who - is missing from her life.

When single mother, Annie, and son Jude take a break away from Scotland to stay with her brother and friends on Symi, they find the warmth and support they need. As they relax into the familiar rhythm of island life, old and new acquaintances change the course of their vacation. Whether it's for better or worse, Annie will discover when she visits the island of Leros. There she may be able to put together some of the missing pieces in her life and learn who her friends really are. But she cannot be prepared for some uncomfortable truths about the past and the dramatic way in which they will change the present for her... and Jude.

Autorenporträt
Lynne is Home Counties escapee living by the sea at last, in Devon. She's written two novels, Terrible With Raisins and Jigsaw Island and, most recently, published an anthology of short stories, Leaving Home. The novels feature some of the same characters and share settings in the glorious Dodecanese Islands of Greece, although both are standalone works and can be read individually. Leaving Home is a collection of stories written over some years, some are prizewinners, one a BBC broadcast. She has a portfolio of scripts dating back to her effort, at ten years old, for 'Write a Play', hosted on television by Jimmy Hanley (it didn't win). Since then she has written for the stage both adult and children's material, adapted and directed three Dickens novels for large casts, and two classics for BBC Radio. She studied at Wimbledon School of Art, the University of Reading, and was awarded a bursary on the Regional Theatres Trainee Directors' Scheme. Following this, she directed at theatres around the UK for some twenty five years, including The Young Vic, National Theatre, various repertory theatres, Theatre About Glasgow (Citizens' Theatre), and ran Dundee Rep's touring theatre company in Tayside. Some of her favourite work has been with students at leading drama schools. She has also volunteered teaching English as a Second Language to refugees in Devon.
