The author's journey during the creation of 'Jungle Bride' was marked by profound challenges, reflecting a deep commitment to befriend hostile jungle nomads and preserving them from certain annihilation. Encroachment by loggers and farmers threatened the Yuquí's ancestral lands. Despite the perils faced, including the wounding of six colleagues by the Yuquí's formidable arrows, Vickie and her husband Alan were driven by a God-given passion to learn the unique culture and language of these nomads and introduce them to the loving Creator God who longed to rescue them from destruction. Witnessing the Yuquí's survival, addressing their health needs, and conveying the compassionate love of God made the sacrifices involved worth it all. Vickie and Alan retired in 2018 after forty-eight years of missionary work and now reside in Green Valley, Arizona.
