This book provides a comprehensive study of the modeling, analysis, and control of wind farms and solar power stations. It starts with dynamic vector modeling methods for wind farms and solar power stations, which enhance modeling efficiency and model accuracy. Building upon this modeling framework, it also covers stability analysis and control methods for wind farms and solar power stations from both steady-state and transient perspectives. Lastly, considering the integration of energy storage into renewable energy power stations, the book explores the analysis and control of wind-energy…mehr

Dr. Yongxin Xiong received B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China, in 2017 and 2022, respectively. From 2022 to 2024, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Energy Department, at Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark. Since 2024, he has been a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, China. He focuses on the research of stability analysis and control of AC/DC power systems with a high proportion of renewable energy. His research interests include power system stability analysis and control, renewable energy, HVDC and DC Grid, and the coordination of control and system protections in grid-following and grid-forming VSC-connected systems. Dr. Xiong has published over 20 SCI/EI papers, including over 10 papers as the first/corresponding author (including 1 Highly Cited Paper). He served as the Guest Editor-in-Chief of Frontiers in Energy Research, and the reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, and IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery.
Hongyu Zhou received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China, in 2020. He is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering with the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. Mr. Zhou focuses on the research of Stability analysis and control of large-scale renewable energy grid integration systems. His research interests include Renewable energy, LCC/VSC HVDC, offshore wind power, fault ride-through. Mr. Zhou has led or participated in 5 research projects, including National Natural Science Foundation projects and National Key R&D Program projects. He has published over 30 SCI/EI papers, including more than 10 SCI papers as the first/corresponding author (including 1 ESI Hot Paper and 1 Highly Cited Paper), and has been granted more than 10 patents. He serves as an independent reviewer for 6 SCI/EI journals.
Dr. Jinyu Wen received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China, in 1992 and 1998, respectively. From 1996 to 1997, he was a Visiting Student with the University of Liverpool, Liverpool, U.K., where he was a Research Fellow from 2002 to 2003. In 2010, he was a Senior Visiting Researcher with the University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, TX, USA. From 1998 to 2002, he was a Director Engineer with XJ Electric Co. Ltd., Xuchang, China. In 2003, he joined HUST, where he is currently a Professor with the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. His research interests include renewable energy integration, energy storage, and multi-terminal HVDC and power system operation and control. Dr. Wen's research interests include renewable energy integration, energy storage, and multi-terminal HVDC and power system operation and control. He has been devoting to use new technologies including energy storage and flexible HVDC to improve the power system stabilities and to integrate large scale renewable energy into power system. He successfully developed China's first mobile direct-cooling high temperature superconducting magnetic energy storage system, proposed lots of new DC converter topologies and their active control technologies such as MMC plus, DC autotransformer and active converter, some of them have been applied in ultra-high voltage hybrid multi-terminal DC transmission projects of Kunliulong, and Baihetan-Jiangsu et al. He has published more than 300 academic papers, more than 10 of them are high cited papers, obtained more than 70 Chinese patents and 4 US and Europe patents.
