The contributions gathered in this volume look at the expression of lack from a typological perspective, in four different language families (Austroasiatic, Indo-European, Niger-Congo and Sino-Tibetan). Using the same methodology, but drawing on different theoretical frameworks, they show that the forms expressing lack share common properties across languages and describe regularities within linguistic families.
