Then, after a certain period of time, you hear a faint voice of hope within you, wanting to put in all your efforts for a good change. Call it a miracle or your God-given ability to bounce back, you start to cling tightly to this rope of hope, not letting yourself drown.
This collection is an attempt at sharing human suffering in the hope (and with a prayer) that it comes to an end or, at least, we find ways to alleviate it. Through these stories, I aim to sensitize people about mental health conditions and be compassionate to each other (I don't claim to know everything about the mental health conditions or states of mind mentioned in these stories).
These stories are inspired by the lives of people I know and love and circumstances that have shaped my understanding of mental health as an individual, and professionally speaking, as a journalist, Gandhi Fellow, and development professional.
