Lucius tells us how Jesus remembered Pilate, whose religious tradition held that the powerful Roman washed his hands at the most important moment of his life, attempting to cleanse himself of the condemnation he considered unjust, declaring that he saw no crime in that man. His position of power and military might as the representative of the greatest empire on Earth could not prevent a simple beggar from being cruelly crucified. At Jesus's request, Zechariah, one of the seventy, took on the task of protecting Governor Pilate throughout his journey after the crucifixion of the Just One, so that this important Roman ruler could feel supported in the difficult trials he would face.
Through his dramas and experiences, the reader will feel that, despite all our failings, Love never abandons us, helping us to emerge from the dark abysses into which we are cast by our own ignorance.
