I decided to embark on my study of the Mahabharata with the intention of taking a fresh look at it. While I had access to other translations in two languages, I was not convinced by the interpretations they offered for some ancient Indian terms and notions. While most of them treat this work as an epic, I decided to take its author at his word and decided to find history in this work. In the process of translating, I found that there is much in this work that is history. This allowed me to decode the hidden meanings of some of the terms in this work.
