Mason is not happy with his life selling insurance, but it all changes when he discovers that he has paranormal powers and is visited by a sentient being named Gabriel that tells him he and others like him with telekinetic powers are required to help fight off a pending invasion of aliens.

Uriel (the antagonist), another sentient has created an advanced race of soldiers assisted and has brought them to Earth through a worm hole to seek revenge against the remaining two sentients who have been assisting the humans develop; Gabriel and Raphael who are fond of the humans and each other.

Uriel's Gonev from the planet Baaluriel worship Uriel as a god and are ready to conquer Earth and its inhabitants. The Advance Guard mothership lands in the Simpson Desert, a desolate uninhabited location secretly accompanied by Uriel. The landing is witnessed by Jungai, an aborigine on 'walk about' and told go and help protect the earth. The Gonev destroy all means of being observed, including satellites, and establish a defensive perimeter.

Millionaire, Jamie Rostriever works for Gabriel and is assembling the telepaths like the protagonist Mason in a farm in Australia where they undergo training. They soon hear that the Gonev have destroyed the secretive ground-based satellite station Pine Gap, the Australian Air Base Tindal and the city of Darwin and a deploy a nuclear bomb. The Gonev advance south down the eastern seaboard of Australia while the Americans send their Carrier Group in Japan to assist in a counterattack. An Air Task Force of Americans and remaining Australian jets carryout a search and destroy mission but end up decimated along with Air Base Amberley and the Carrier Group.

A Coalition force is cobbled together of nations and the rest of the Pacific fleet to hold a defensive line to allow the evacuation of civilians to Tasmania and New Zealand. The paranormals are accepted by sceptical Generals and train with friendly force ground troops. After a mission to test their abilities, it is realised that the paranormals, who act in pairs like a sword and shield can disable the Gonev's technology with their powers.

Mason strikes up a love affair with a doctor that works for Rostriever who designs a system to supercharge the paranormals' powers.

The Coalition forces fight to delay the Gonev in the east and sends a force to attack the mothership that Jungai observed landing. A great battle occurs between the giant exo-skeleton walkers of the Gonev and the armoured forces of the coalition, while a backup plan sends Tomahawk missiles at the mothership guided special forces and Jungai.

An epic confrontation occurs between Uriel and Gabriel having revealed their true energy forms; interpreted throughout history as angels or in Hebrew 'Malakim'. This attracts Michael the archangel that abandoned humans disillusioned by the repeated acts of mass violence. Michael is the only sentient that communicates with the creator of the universe and is sent to pass judgement, which he does.
