Born into a family where his father led the local Legion of Mary chapter, Joey grew up nightly reciting the Rosary with his family. Adopting Buddhism in his teens, he fully intended to follow his maternal uncle in becoming a monk later in life. In his thirties, God intervened and so was led to re-evaluate his early views of Christianity through the study of scripture. Trained in both computing and journalism, he spent most of career as a software developer.
