Prof. Dr. Mehmet Erman Or was born in Istanbul on October 21, 1966. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Istanbul University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (1983-1988) and completed his PhD in Veterinary Internal Medicine at the same institution (1988-1995). He later pursued a master's degree in Biophysics at the Health Sciences Institute of Trakya University (2011-2019) while concurrently completing programs in International Relations and Healthcare Management at Anadolu University (2011-2018).

After being appointed Assistant Professor in 1998 and Associate Professor in 1999, he was promoted to full Professor in 2007. Since then, he has served on the faculty of Clinical Sciences, Department of Internal Medicine, at Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa Veterinary Faculty. Within the university, he has chaired the Subspecialty Courses Committee, represented his faculty in the international student organization ARKEGOS, and acted as a judicial veterinary expert for the Istanbul Bar. His leadership roles also extend to forensic medicine panels and various academic committees.

Prof. Or's research focuses on veterinary internal medicine, dermatology, elementology, toxicology and first-line diagnostic approaches. Since 2002, he has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles in international journals indexed by SCI and SCIE. He is the author of several textbooks and has authored several chapters.

His international engagements include a DFG fellowship at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (1997), Erasmus and YÖK scholarships at the Universities of Camerino and Perugia (2011-2013), and short-term visiting professorships under bilateral agreements at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has also served as Turkey's delegate to the Mediterranean Federation for Ruminant Health and Production. He is currently actively carrying out joint projects with European Union countries, especially Italy.

In addition to his research, Prof. Or teaches courses in veterinary internal medicine, medical physics, biophysics and mathematics. Married with one son, he continues to advance veterinary education and practice through his scientific curiosity and extensive international collaborations.
