Maria Paradiso is a professor of political and economic geography at the University of Sannio, Italy. She is the founder and chair of the International Geographical Union Commission 'Mediterranean Basin' and primary coordinator of the EU FP7 Marie Curie IRSES 'Euro-Mediterranean Changing Relationships' (MEDCHANGe) grant n. 612639. She is a board member of the Social Sciences Committee of Academia Europaea (London). She has authored five books in Italian, and edited circa 16 books and journal special issues in English and Italian. She has also authored more than 100 peer-reviewed contributions in journals and books and other publications.
