Some obsessions start not with a touch, but with a view. That's what struck me first, in Tim's hand, on the first page of his leather journal. Found in 2015 during a cleaning in Montauk, it contained a battered journal and yellowed letters tied with blue silk. The journal revealed a careful, obsessive confession, while the letters, addressed to an unknown recipient, hinted at a secret love spanning decades-timeless, hidden, and ultimately revealed through a last, unmailed letter. Montauk kept their secret until the house changed hands. If you're on this beach, listen for the ocean; it knows all the secrets. …mehr

About the Author
T. Grant Wilder Architect of Men's Desire. Curator of Unwritten Lives. Chronicler of Rooms You've Dreamed Aboutbut Never Found Until Now.
Born in Philadelphia and now writing from Edinburgh, Wilder carries two cities in his voice: the raw pulse of the Atlantic and the cold clarity of the North Sea. His work explores queer desire, secrecy, and consequence with a journalist's sharpness and a novelist's ache. Every story lingers on what touch alters and what silence costs.
In his twenties and thirties, Wilder traveled across continents, chasing stories from war zones to press tents where truth was passed like contraband. He ghostwrote for anchors whose faces you know, even if you never knew his words. That life trained his ear for the pause between words, the silence before confessionthe hidden spaces where intimacy lives.
Along the way, he developed a compulsion: rescuing fragments of men's private lives. Estate sales, dusty bookshops, forgotten atticswherever longing lingered in journals, letters, and photographs. At first it was curiosity, then obsession. Those fragments became unfinished confessions: a pressed flower between diary pages, a letter never answered, a photo worn smooth by too many hands. They were not relics. They were beginnings. Wilder began writing them forwardnot as historian, but as confessor.
Now, from a sunlit window above a cobbled Edinburgh street, Wilder writes with the hum of life beneath himshop doors opening, strangers brushing shoulders, conversations half-overheard. His fiction stretches across eras and landscapesgaslit parlors, modern coastlines, leather rooms, and myth-marked worldsbut every piece returns to the same truth: men confessing what they cannot say anywhere else.
What began as salvaged fragments has grown into Private Writings of Menan entire house of desire, built room by room. From the velvet seductions of Secret Bonds of the Gilded Age to the unflinching rawness of Grant's Dungeon: No Safe Word, from the unapologetic lust of The Back Room to the myth and magic of Moonbound Fantasies, Wilder creates spaces where intimacy burns in every form: raw, reckless, tender, and true.
Thank you for stepping into his world. Come stay a while.
