I was one of those kids who always got hurt-you know, the one who was always trying to outdo the other guy. Even when I didn't try, I got hurt. One day, I was on my dirt bike in Garretson Beach. The day was a hot eighty-seven degrees with clear skies. After riding for about three hours, I stopped to get a drink. I put the kickstand down; and while I was walking to my car-bang!-I fell down, got up, and started seeing double. People were running over to help me. The day was a hot eighty-seven degrees with clear skies. After riding for about three hours, I stopped to get a drink. I put the kickstand down; and while I was walking to my car-bang!-I fell down, got up, and started seeing double. People were running over to help me. They were flying remote-controlled airplanes by the beach, and someone had lost control of a plane. It had crash-landed hard at the back of my head. It was a good thing I hadn't taken my helmet off; I would have been seriously hurt otherwise. But I sustained an injury to my neck that I can still feel thirty-five years later. That's just one of my misadventures. Read about more in this book.

Autorenporträt
Born in Brooklyn to immigrant Italian parents I was taught at a young age to strive to survive, I was also taught to work hard and not give up no matter what life throws at you. I was always trying different things my favorite was riding my bike like most young boys, the difference was that I was a bit of a daredevil the faster I went the happier I was. As I got older I graduated up to racing bikes go carts and motorcycles many times I would fall and crush but I would get up brush myself off and start again. Then it happened, I wasn't lucky. When I was 18 years old I was hit while riding my motorcycle, this time I didn't get up. I arrived at the hospital where I was pronounced dead. The doctors brought me back to life. I was in a coma and on a respirator for many months my parents were told if I came out of this I would be a vegetable. I woke up and felt I was reborn. I had many surgeries as a result of all my injuries and every day I look at my scars. They are a reminder of the pain I went through and still go through in my life. My doctors, family and friends have encouraged me to tell my story they say "I am a walking miracle and that I have nine lives". The first book I wrote was dedicated to my father who taught me how to survive. Now I want to tell my story on how I am a survivor.
