Reporter Pat Carson flees the embarrassment of a broken engagement to return to the one place she'd vowed never to go, her coal mining home town in West Virginia. While on assignment with the local paper, covering a story on the Ridge, she encounters both a brawny hunk of a man, Allen Walker, and an unexpected grave at a work site. The remains of the dead man lead to more questions than answers and ultimately to the killer who threatens her very life as well as a future with the handsome ranger. Ranger Allen Walker has enjoyed a quiet life on the mountain, working to both ensure the safety of the gas company workers and equipment, and to secretly search for his missing grandfather. When the new journalist arrives to cover a road widening story, though, his serene life is upended. First, she enters the scene just as workers make the shocking discover of a hidden grave. Could it be the body of his grandfather who vanished twenty years ago? But more disturbing, he has an immediate attraction to the pretty woman, but no woman would want to live in an isolated cabin on a mountain. Would she?

Autorenporträt
Perhaps fate intervened when I was eleven- years- old and my first job was delivering newspapers in a West Virginia coal mining community. I was a coal miner's daughter whose parents were from the deep south. It was along that paper route my imagination soared, eyes absorbing seasonal beauty and talking with customers of all skin colors and ages.As a teenager I entered our newspaper contest and wrote a sales narrative on how to acquire new customers. I was a winner and received my first published byline writing about the trip I had won. This was the beginning of a sequence of career opportunities that propelled me into the journalism/media communications field.Being trained by a photographer, it led to a photo-journalist position with the local newspaper, then to news reporter. My eyes saw tragic scenes no human should witness. I know there was a guardian angel near on some dangerous stories. I wrote a weekly column and was promoted to feature editor. In 14 years as a journalist, I was honored by the Alabama Press Association for Best Column, Best Feature; responsible for the newspaper winning Best News Reporting, Best Investigative Reporting and Community Service Award. I spearheaded and co-authored "Legendary Locals of Cullman County" an Arcadia historical publication.Opting for a career change, I worked in radio and TV sales, deejayed a prime- time gospel radio show and then photographed and wrote thirty second TV commercials before retiring to write romance novels. I draw on incidents and circumstances that become an emotional base, and my characters...well they could be reflections of people I have met over the years.
