One day, Vlad Snegir, a fashionable science fiction writer and frivolous young man, finds out that he is now a knight of the Order of the Holy Bestseller. Considering this a bad joke, Vlad was mistaken. Ahead of him were nine rounds of a very peculiar "trial", a friendship with the Silver Harpy, an acquaintance with the Bookworm, and a business proposal to "kill the hero." The novel is largely devoted to the mysteries of literary creativity - a strange, surprising, unexpected, thoroughly permeated with poetry and deeply personal "optimistic tragic farce". What is he talking about? About the relationship between Great Literature and commercial literature? About how often the first is similar to the second? How blurred are the lines between them? About the responsibility of the writer for his creations - and before his creations? Not all subtexts that float one on top of the other can be analyzed and sorted out. You can only feel, get lost in associations - and understand that this is how it should be.
