As an articulate orator and an uncompromising thinker, his contributions to Marxist theory and his role as the People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs, and later the founder and commander of the Red Army, have cemented his place in history. Trotsky's intellectual legacy includes his theory of 'permanent revolution' and his critique of the bureaucratic degeneration of the Soviet state under Stalin. His literary style reflects his deep commitment to social justice and his analytical acuity, encapsulating complex historical and political ideologies in texts that both informed and galvanized his contemporaries.
