Lyrics and poems written between 2014 and 2025, navigating personal and global turmoil with good humour and a supporting cast including a Kentucky murderess, a displaced deep sea angler fish and a confused innocent who just wishes everyone would get along.
My world is structured
As patterns form in rubble
And as an impetus
For Improvisation

Autorenporträt
Kerry Jackson-Kay wrote his first song aged five. It was called "Every Time I Die I Get Buried." It got weirder from there.

He studied jazz at Leeds College of Music, where he was the founder member and leader of the anarchic Great Escape Big Band. He made two albums with Leeds goth ambassadors Zeitgeist Zero, performed magic and escapology as Helen Held, the Girl No Man Can Hold (at time of writing, still the UK's only drag escape artist) and songs and poetry under a variety of decidedly genderfluid aliases. He released three studio albums as Kerry JK (the fourth is in production at time of writing), produced the trans artist compilation album Songs of a New Gendernation for the National Theatre of Scotland, was a writer, mod and reviewer for Tom Robinson's Fresh on the Net blog and lectured on Music and Musicianship for the University of Wolverhampton.

These days he lives with his wife and many cats in Northampton and works as a lifeguard, a positive and (mostly) relaxed role that gives him time to think, peoplewatch and sing to an empty pool room at the end of the day.
