This book of poetry is a collection of writings written from my lived experiences over the last several years. Around half of these pieces were written while I was serving time in jail. The others were written while I was in detox, treatment centers, sober living, and all throughout my recovery journey. I write to help in healing myself and others. I write to relate, connect and to tell my story. I also write to share some of the things that I have learned along the way. I write to relate, connect and to tell my story. I also write to share some of the things that I have learned along the way. Finally, I write to support, encourage & inspire the still struggling addict and alcoholic. I hope this book reaches far and wide, to leave a lasting and positive spiritual footprint on those that come across it.

Autorenporträt
Originally from Prince George BC, Jason (41) has called Edmonton home for over two decades. Jason's early years were challenging. His unfortunate and unstable upbringing shaped his journey. After experiencing foster care and living with relatives, he faced struggles with self worth, self-esteem and rebellious attitudes and behaviors that led to alcohol & drug abuse, abuse and ultimately addiction. For much of his adult life, Jason battled addiction, homelessness, and frequent encounters with the law and jails. Despite these adversities, Jason found the courage to turn his life around. In 2020, he embarked on a transformative journey of recovery. Through personal development, intensive treatment programs, and involvement in 12-step fellowships, he gradually rebuilt his life. During this process, Jason discovered his passion for writing poetry and spoken word, which has become a vital part of his healing. Today, Jason celebrates over five years of sobriety. He is a proud husband to his wife Sara, whose strength and love continue to inspire him. He is a sober, providing, and dedicated father to his son, River and stepson, Kairo. His faith and commitment to a God-centered life are central to his mission. Jason is actively involved in his community, sharing his story and leading weekly meetings with incarcerated men, sharing his recovery and encouraging them in making positive life choices. He is also the founder and president of a non-profit organization "Sober Homies Society" that does outreach work in Edmonton's inner city. His story is a testament to the transformative power of faith, hard work, and community, and he is committed to inspiring others to believe in the possibility of a fulfilling life after addiction.
