The author has been a journalist for more than 30 years and has taught the subject in the USA and the UK.
He was born in Glasgow, Scotland and lived in London and Washington where his novels are set.
He is an avid animal lover and a trusteee of a cat sanctuary in Somerset, England.
He travels frequently between the UK and the USA.
