Hermes is under the punishment of Zeus, to submit to his own family and obey their every command. To be humiliated, made to take on whatever form pleases them, man or woman or beast. To be hurt at their whim. Not all of Hermes' family wish to hurt him, he is loved by many, but even with them, the forced submission begins to take its toll. And at the end of it, an invitation by Zeus to see Hermes either show he has learned his lesson... or become an example for the family of what becomes of those who do not obey their king. Will Hermes be driven insane by cruel masters intent on bringing him to his knees and destroying his very divine nature?

Hades read his letter. And he smirked.

"I could decide not to. Zeus has his kingdom and I have mine; why should I do his dirty work in punishing his own son for him? And I do owe you a favor, still. Is this the favor you would ask, nephew? Would you... escape my lesson? My chance to take my every past grievance from your hide with my brother's blessing?"

Hermes did not answer. Said not a word. He looked at his uncle's feet.

Hades studied him. Listened to his silence. Then he hopped off his throne, standing face to face with Hermes, or would have if Hades hadn't chosen to present himself as much taller than Hermes had. Worshippers want their Underworld to be majestic, and he usually had an air of towering strength about him. It was Hades who broke the silence.

"But if I go along with it, let the charm do its thing, I will have so much fun. And really, your own weak will brought this on you, nephew. Or maybe, you are silent because you want our punishment. Is this what you crave? What was it you said, all those years ago... a night of fun? On your knees."

Or is it that the god of deceit, the silver-tongued thief, might he be playing them even as they force him to obey? Who is really dominating the scene? And what might a dead lover have to do with anything? Is this a tragedy... or is it a love story for the ages?

Explore the myths of the ancient world as Hermes' relationship with his family, with his lovers, with his worshippers all combine in an epic story of romance, conquest, love, and what it truly means to submit.

Autorenporträt
Mir Foote grew up in the country, in a small community called Whitehawk. There she had the woods for her playground, dirt roads for her adventures, and an entire wilderness for inspiration. She was lulled to sleep at night by the sound of drums and coyote calls. By day, she explored.

Now, the world is her playground. She spent a year of school in France and another month in Prague. She taught English for a year in South Korea. She has walked on the Great Wall of China, scaled Reichenbach Falls where Sherlock Holmes nearly met his match, and stood in the ruins of Pompeii.

Mir Foote is a world traveler, an amateur linguist, and lover of the written word. Currently, she is looking into the far reaches of the past and future, exploring new stories, and working on her next book.
