Elspeth Wills was brought up in Glasgow at a time when women were banned from many pubs, sectarian songs were rife and Christmas meant a warm Babycham. After graduating with a history degree from St Andrews University, the subject has remained a constant in her varied career as marketer, researcher, small business owner, interpreter and author of fifteen books.

MartynRoutledge is a designer and runs his own creative agency, working with clients in the heritage and tourism sectors. He has worked as Creative Director for various branding and design agencies, creating many exhibitions and books including the award-winning The Beautiful Badge: The Stories Behind the Football Club Badges. Martyn was brought up in the Lake District surrounded by pubs such as The Drunken Duck, The Golden Rule and The Mortal Man and their history is a subject that has long fascinated him. Martyn is based in Essex/London.
