"Hello? Please... help me..." Her voice catches, uncertain if Kevin will get this in time. But the kitten's life depends on her pushing through this moment of awkwardness. "There's a kitten trapped in a storm drain on Maple Street, near the corner of 4th Avenue, by the old bookstore."
She pauses, listening to the rush of water and her own ragged breathing.
"The water's rising, and I can't get the drain cover off by myself. The kitten is stuck on a piece of metal sticking out from the side, but it can't hold on much longer. Please Kevin..." She swallows hard. "I'm wearing an olive green raincoat. You can't miss me. I'm the only one crazy enough to be out in this storm."
