Despite receiving an invitation letter from the Retainers, his goal of becoming a Retainer proves to be a path fraught with outlandish obstacles and welcomed diversions. His life takes a drastic turn, when Frides, an assassin from a mysterious group is sent to kill him.

In a twist of fate, Criselda, his guardian and a former Peace Corps member herself, makes a deal with Frides, where Frides becomes Nero's bodyguard. Now Nero must navigate the treacherous world controlled by the Peace Corps while he journeys to the safe house of the Retainers.



Retainers unfolds as an upbeat tale of rebellion, loyalty, and the struggle to carve out an identity in a world overshadowed by authority.
