In 'Rindido (Deranged),' we follow the tragic journey of Efren, a troubled Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who returns to Manila from Saudi Arabia after losing his job due to gambling. The story unfolds dramatically over a single day, beginning with Efren's arrival at Manila International Airport, where he bears the weight of disappointment and loss. As he commutes home under the sweltering sun, he encounters a group of Hare Krishnas distributing leaflets, offering a glimmer of hope amid his tumultuous life. Arriving at his dilapidated tenement, Efren discovers his mistress Lani in an intimate moment with Carlos, a dangerous thug. Consumed by rage and betrayal, he confronts Carlos, leading to a brutal street fight that leaves him scarred and humiliated. Back in Lani's arms, seeking solace, Efren finds himself spiraling further into darkness. Their passionate encounter turns sinister as jealousy engulfs him, culminating in a shocking act of violence that claims Lani's life and sends him deeper into despair. Frantically burning his passport, Efren seeks vengeance, tracking Carlos to a rooftop drinking party. A violent confrontation erupts, resulting in the deaths of Carlos and his friend Lando. As chaos ensues, Efren takes a bystander hostage, desperately trying to escape the consequences of his actions. The police arrive, and the situation escalates tragically, leading to Efren's demise as he is shot by Sergeant Rapatan. The story closes with the tenement engulfed in smoke, sirens blaring, symbolizing the catastrophic unraveling of a life steeped in choices led by desperation and despair.
