We open with "An Unlikely Obsession", the tale of a feckless man brought to a more realistic understanding of who and what he is by a most unlikely source.
Read on, as the recently divorced and waster nephew of a deceased former aunt and last living relative travels from London to Dorset with high-hopes... Only to find that he is not the recipient of the old girl's will and has been made quite a different bequest... A bequest of room and board in the house he expected to inherit... Room and board supplied under the supervision of the young Indian housekeeper whose existence he had barely acknowledged and who now was the recipient of all the late-aunts goods and investments the feckless middle-aged nephew had expected to inherit... Supervision the young woman with a taste for the nephew's looks if not his condescension intends to last a good long time.
We follow this with "Serving Ms Shreya", Malkin Jamali's study of a young widow from Pakistan, now living in England, who uses her new-found security and wealth after the death of her unmissed businessman husband of an arranged marriage to try and realise her fondest dream... That of being the "Malkin" in her own home... And not only ruling it with no care of the feelings of late and unlamented husband but doing so while supervising over an older and attractive man from her adopted country... A man desperate enough and needy enough to make him so weak and gullible she is able to lead him by the nose to the result she has long dreamed of achieving.
Believable female-led fantasy fiction of the interracial kind for those readers who prefer to use the darker sides of their imaginations with the help of character-driven plotlines.
Malkin Jamali is also the author of "House of Servitude".
