He is author of Rethinking the Gay and Lesbian Movement and City of Sisterly and Brotherly Loves: Lesbian and Gay Philadelphia. He is editor-in-chief of the award-winning Encyclopedia of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender History in America.
