Arnine Cumsky Weissgrew up in Wilkes-Barre, PA, but moved to Philadelphia after college to pursue a career as a teacher of the deaf. After marrying her husband she moved to Scranton, PA, and then again to New York City, where she currently works as an interpreter and English teacher. Her first book, Becoming a Bar Mitzvah, is based on experiences with her six-year-old son's battle with leukemia.
