In 2002, former NBA Clippers owner Donald Sterling acquired the Ardmore Apartments in Los Angeles where my mother, Kandynce Griggs-Jones, 67-year-old Black woman who was legally blind, right side paralyzed due to a bad spinal fusion surgery, and suffered from Sickle Cell Anemia was living peacefully in her apartment. As the building management started to change due to the acquisition, overt cruelty towards African-American and Latino tenants began to be undeniable. News websites like ESPN.com, Huffingtonpost.com, and latimes.com, later shared that when Donald Sterling had first purchased the complex, he made a mention of an odor, stating that it was "because all the blacks in the building; they smell, they're not clean...and, it's because of all of the Mexicans that just sit around and smoke and drink all day" After this, he said, "So, we have to get them out of here."

In 2024, FX Networks created a series called Clipped that focused on 2003-2015 events regarding Donald Sterling and his wife. FX Networks hired an actress to play me and used my likeness, full name, my mother's real name, and created a storyline that wasn't true in episode 4 which is Hulu. FX Networks did not seek my approval to include me in their series nor did they seek my permission. I never knew the series was featured on Hulu until friends and family informed me.
