The statement that the Continuing Church of God is committed to the truth, doing the work God's way, with confirmation of His end time signs, and that is what separates it from other similar groups seemed to me like, oh here we go again! Another church claiming to be right. However, reading its statement of beliefs I was shocked to learn all of the things that I do today that were not taught by Jesus Christ nor His disciples, but are accepted by people claiming to be Christian. Want a few examples? Celibacy is not a requirement of church leaders. Jesus was not born on December 25. Confessing sins to a man and receiving a list of prayers to recite is not repentance. And people don't go to heaven when they die. Do you believe these things? If you do, you may want to read your Bible because it doesn't say what you have been taught to believe.
Beyond these questions, the booklet also talks about Philadelphian Christians. That is the main takeaway I got from reading booklet. The Bible talks about the Church of Philadelphia, in the book of Revelation. That church is the only one that God says will survive the return of Jesus Christ and the Day of the Lord. If you don't know what that will be like just read the book of Revelation. So, wouldn't you want to be with the Philadelphian Church and be safe? To do that you have to follow God's ways, not the way you want to go or the ways the other churches go. This booklet outlines what is required to be a Philadelphian Christian. You can't be one overnight, but you can start now. Challenge these statements and look them up in your Bible. I did and I really feel that this church is 'the true one'.
