Long ago, during a famine, Mr. Snail grew weak and hungry because he couldn't hunt like other animals. One evening, he smelled porridge from a nearby house and entered, hoping for food. Finding no one home, he climbed into the pot and began eating. But the porridge was so thick that he got stuck.

When the owner returned, he forgave Mr. Snail for stealing, understanding it was out of desperation. He helped Mr. Snail out of the pot but forgot to clean off the sticky porridge. Mr. Snail struggled to move and was later seen by his friend Mr. Caterpillar, who asked what had happened. Embarrassed, Mr. Snail pretended he was playing a game.

Since then, snails have moved slowly and left a sticky trail behind, just like the porridge that once trapped Mr. Snail.
