Autorenporträt

Karen Furneaux is a three-time Olympian and two-time World Champion in the sport of sprint kayaking. She has won nine medals at the world championships, including two gold over her 20-year athletic career, and she was a member of CBC's Olympic Broadcast Team in Rio in the summer of 2016. Through her company, I Promise Performance Inc., Karen speaks with international audiences about the connection between health, mindset and performance. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University with a specialization in Sport Psychology, as well as numerous sport and personal development training certifications. Karen has undergone extensive Team and Leadership training through Cornell University and she is a licensed HeartMath provider. Karen has recently been inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame and she has been named one of the top 15 most successful athletes in Nova Scotia sport history. Her training and experience allow her to support her clients as they build resilience and manage stress, and she is passionate about engaging and empowering youth, volunteering her time to the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame - Education Program. Karen has created a mentorship and empowerment group for girls aged 12-18 called "Strong Beauty." It helps young girls become more self-confident, develop a strong, positive body image, develop and practice healthy lifestyle habits and successfully manage times of transition.
