Lt. General Mordecai "Swoop" Swellen was once known for his violent raids and attacks on any and all enemies, some were outlaws, some were raiding, warring American Indians. When so ordered he would "swoop" in and decimate any declared enemy. He was also known for his natural, actical brilliance, his sudden viciousness, and a branding iron, red hot anger!

Produktbeschreibung

But in 1890, Swellen had a change of heart. He was faced with enraging the local Lakota Indians near his fort, which he knew would lead to disaster. Without options, he walked away from his command just before the Massacre at Wounded Knee, disobeying all orders and disappeared. AWOL. His vindictive superiors became outraged and branded him a coward, a traitor to the United States and issued a wanted dead or alive, $1,000 bounty on his head. The military orchestrated a massive hunt for him. In "Swellen's Reckoning" we learn his origin story, and how as a fugitive he became involved with a new invention, a cog-and-rail, mountain climbing train system, and it's company from Sicily, working in Pikes Peak, Colorado. He's hired by the Sicilian owner-inventor Arturo Zapello to thwart sabotage, theft and murder within his own company, and further foil one of his sinister crew chiefs, Carlo Greco, also a renowned swordsman obsessed with challenging the locals to sword duels to their death.

Many reckonings befall Swoop and all those around him in this - and all his first adventures - as the military trap also closes in like a noose around his neck. Swoop must also struggle to stay one step ahead of many bounty hunters and the United States Army.

Autorenporträt
Hock Hochheim is the author of westerns, thrillers, true-crime, police action adventures and combatives books. He's an award-winning fiction, non-fiction, a military, police and martial arts veteran. He is published by the great Wolfpack Publishing, Piccadilly Publishing, High Home Endeavors: Books! and GMBH Germany. Hock tours internationally doing book events and teaching hand, stick, knife and gun defensive tactics to military, police and civilians in some 9 to 11 allied countries annually.

Hock's books are based on his deep research, extensive knowledge and experience with crime, criminal minds and real-life experience. He's served in U.S. Army law enforcement as a patrolman and investigator in the 70's, then settled down to fight crime as a detective in the Dallas-Ft Worth metro area, Texas for decades. Later, Hock even served as a private investigator and bodyguard.

In 1998, Hock launched, and was editor-in-chief of, Close Quarter Combat Magazine, a publication sold in 26 countries for 5 years, and a publication that became the bedrock of many self-defense, "martialist," and combatives organizations that are still growing and flourishing today. This is still somewhat of an old cult magazine and collectors still ask for old issues.

Throughout his career he's been a prolific writer, storyteller and educator. He has an uncanny ability to teach, entertain and enlighten both in person and in his books. The characters in his fiction are composites of situations and personalities he's actually been-and-done, known of, or researched extensively. These stories play themselves out with great detail, humanity and accuracy.

Hock has sold more over 55,000 books in some 27 countries from 1979 to date. In with both the award-winning, My Gun is my Passport, Jack Kellog's first crime fighting adventure, Be Bad Now and the true crime collection-Wolfpack omnibus, KiIl or be Killed appearing at times in the top 100 Amazon book list in their categories versus millions of titles. Hock continues to write fiction and non-fiction as he continues to tour teaching.
