Produktbeschreibung
In "Thankful's Inheritance," Joseph Crosby Lincoln masterfully weaves a compelling narrative set against the backdrop of early 20th-century New England. This novel, rich in character study and social dynamics, explores themes of familial duty, love, and the clash between tradition and modernity. Lincoln's prose is imbued with a warm, colloquial tone that draws readers into the lives of his characters, encapsulating the essence of small-town life with profound insight and gentle humor. The work reflects the author's keen observations of human nature, placing it firmly within the context of American regionalism, where the intricacies of local customs and intimate relationships are richly portrayed. Joseph Crosby Lincoln, a native of Massachusetts, was deeply influenced by the coastal landscapes and spirited communities of New England, which are vividly depicted in his writings. His career as a writer blossomed during a time when American literature was shifting, with a growing emphasis on regional voices. Lincoln's own experiences with family dynamics and local lore allowed him to craft stories that resonate emotionally, making his characters both relatable and memorable. I highly recommend "Thankful's Inheritance" to readers who appreciate evocative storytelling and nuanced character exploration. Lincoln's work not only offers a glimpse into early 20th-century Americana but also prompts reflection on the timeless nature of family relationships and personal growth. This novel stands as a testament to Lincoln's literary prowess and remains relevant for contemporary audiences.

Autorenporträt
Joseph Crosby Lincoln was an American novelist, poet, and short story writer, with many of his works situated on a fictional Cape Cod. Lincoln was born in 1870 in Brewster, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod, and after his father died, his mother relocated the family to Chelsea, Massachusetts, an industrial community outside of Boston. Lincoln's writing career extolling "old Cape Cod" can be viewed as an attempt to return to an Eden that he had fled due to familial sorrow. Lincoln's work was frequently featured in renowned journals like The Saturday Evening Post and The Delineator. Lincoln was aware of contemporary naturalist writers like Frank Norris and Theodore Dreiser, who utilized American literature to delve into the depths of human nature, but he rejected the creative exercise. Lincoln stated that he was content "spinning yarns" that made readers feel good about themselves and their neighbors. His work served as the basis for six films and a short.
