Alexis C. Knighten is a Chicago native who's also a United States Navy veteran. She is a graduate of Tidewater Community College earning her Associates Degree in General Studies.

Inspired by the late great Maya Angelou, she has always had a passion for writing. She resides in Portsmouth, Virginia with her loving husband, daughter and two Siberian huskies.
