Glen A. Busby was born in Bradenton, Florida. He spent his childhood years in Gainesville, Florida. He graduated from Santa Fe High School in Alachua, Florida, and from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Tifton, Georgia in 1967 with an associate degree. After working on the Dew Line in Alaska, he then entered the United States Navy's Submarine Service in 1967. He qualified on the USS Sailfish (SS-572) and is a Vietnam Veteran. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1976, studying under Sir Stephen Spender.Glen graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, Georgia with a Master of Divinity degree in 1980. He was commissioned in the United States Navy Chaplain Corps as a LTJG. He retired as a Captain in 2007 after serving 37 years. Glen also served as a Veterans Affairs Chaplain at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, Gainesville, Florida, where he retired in 2021. He is an honorably retired member of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in the Presbytery of Saint Augustine. He served Fairview Presbyterian Church, Lawrenceville, Georgia, Branford Presbyterian Church, Branford, Florida and First Presbyterian Church, High Springs, Florida. Glen has been married to Linda Cole Busby of High Springs, Florida since 1969. Linda served as a chapter leader for 20 years in "The Compassionate Friends" after the death of their 14-year-old son, Glen Junior, in a bicycle accident on Glen's 38th birthday. Chad Anthony Busby, their younger son, lives in Oviedo, Florida, with his wife, Gina, and their 2 sons, Tyler and Dylan
