'The Bible Amendments' takes the Good Book to task on several levels. Christ's messages of peace, love, and understanding are contradicted by teachings found largely in the Old Testament. The God in the Old Testament endorses war, slavery, chauvinism, the second-class status of women, people of color, and the LGBTQ community. This is not the message Christ brought to the world. The God in the New Testament seems to be 180 degrees different than the one in the Old Testament. Equal rights for all of humanity have been left to the government, but even the most civilized countries have not reached true equality. 'The Bible Amendments' shares Rex Troute's heavily researched perspective on how to achieve this goal. Rex Troute spent the first 13 years of his post-college days in sales and management positions until he discovered his passion - newspaper journalism. For the next 26 years, Rex was honored with several Iowa Newspaper Association and National Newspaper Association awards for sports, news and business writing, along with newspaper design. He served as managing editor for two newspaper companies and retired as business editor of his hometown daily and Iowa's oldest newspaper, The Hawk Eye in Burlington, Iowa. His previous books include; The Revolution in Utopia (poetry), Rock 'n' Roll Savior (novel) and Created (novel). He has served 10 years on the board of directors of a nonprofit organization, which helps people with mental and physical disabilities. His philanthropic pursuits include helping children with cancer, wounded veterans, pet shelters and strengthening college education.
