Autorenporträt
My name is Alan Muskett, and I am a mental wellbeing coach and trainer. I live in rural Worcestershire in the UK. After a 30+ year career in consumer-packaged goods (food), I decided to change tack and do something which meant more to me than hitting sales targets or delivering a truck on time. My passion has always been to help other people, enjoying seeing them flourish rather than flounder. I must admit though, that this trait has led me to de-prioritise my own health and development in the past, as I myself fell prey to burnout while managing and looking after a large team. I initially self-helped and learned how to get off my burnout ladder using the ancient art of mindfulness. Very quickly I started to get benefits. I realised it was so powerful for me, I couldn't wait to share it with others, and so my new career was effectively born right there. I qualified as a meditation teacher, then as a hypnotherapist, and went on to create my company and co-found another. My other love is writing, and I have dabbled in the art since schooldays but never really published anything other than a letter to a magazine! I thought it might be an idea to combine two cravings-write a book to reach others, which can give some guidance on self-protection in an increasingly chaotic world of work and life.I had already developed The Burnout Ladder® as a group training and individual coaching programme and so a book seemed the next logical step.I have thoroughly enjoyed writing it, even though I could feel the ascent of the ladder myself sometimes...and I hope it provides simple explanations as to why burnout happens to us, how we can get off the ladder, and how to thrive once again.I will be writing more books, so stay tuned, on how to use mindfulness in leadership of teams, and how to make good habits conscious and lasting.
