THE - ON THE MOVE is a fast moving trip into the past. Join Albert and Marie's growing family. Author Ron Schaffer recognizes many area residents, who made important contributions, as exciting family adventures developed.

A brief review of most important wonderful neighbors includes:

REA: Electric power replaced kerosene lamps and candles.

DOCTOR Corey: Everyone knew about Doc's dashes to the rescue.

PETEY AND GUS; I sat by the roadside shaking and frightened at the thought of what might have happened.

R.J.WOOD: Ron, our family is getting too big for Dolly. We'd like to give our pony to your family.

TRADER-DEALER PETE LORAFF: Storming through the barnyard was the hard charging Prince, pulling the bouncing buggy with two little girls hanging on for dear life.

THE THRESHING CREW: A sharp crackling spark flashed out evolving into a blazing fire.

JANITOR ALBERT HARFERT: Three stories suddenly seemed like ten stories. What the heck, if Albert can do it - I can do it too.

COUSIN ART: Coach Reed gave him the most important assignment. "Guse, you are guarding Jackie Robinson"!

THE CUB SCOUT: Dad had Tony right where he wanted him. Tony most likely knew he was in charge.

SONNY BARTON; Sonny, Jack Zimmerman and Bill Geik joined the war effort.

NEW MARKET: Will they take advantage of this rookie seller.

FREDDIE GNODTKE: A troublesome flat tire could be lurking around the next corner.

HOSEA AND LAURA: They walked south to the home of a minister, in Galien, to be married.

Autorenporträt
In 1994 retired teacher, Ron Schaffer joined the Cloverleaf Intergeneration program at the . Ron and four assigned sixth graders relived the senior's life story. Mr. Schaffer recalls, 'THE STUDENTS WERE SO ENTHUSIASTIC. I HAD SO MUCH FUN! It was just like being a young kid again growing up on our farm during the Great Depression". Once again, Ron was sacking wheat with the threshing crew, performing farm tasks with horses, recalling exciting pony races, dodging potential harmful accidents or playing basketball. Senior and students were sharing the excitement, toil and adventure associated with growing-up with three brothers and a sister. Ron admits "The Cloverleaf experience is responsible for sewing the seeds that initiated writing 'THE CENTER OF THE WORLD - ON THE MOVE'".
