Produktbeschreibung
The Face Down Collection Four includes all three Mistress Jaffrey Mysteries, a series spun off from Kathy Lynn Emerson's Face Down novels. The protagonist is Rosamond, foster daughter of Susanna, Lady Appleton, the amateur sleuth in Face Down in the Marrow-Bone Pie and its sequels and opens with the short story, "Any Means Short of Murder," in which Rosamond elopes with Rob Jaffrey, son of Lady Appleton's housekeeper and companion, Jennet. The novels take place several years later. In Murder in the Queen's Wardrobe, Rosamond becomes involved with spies and international intrigue when she learns that her estranged husband is in danger in distant Muscovy. Nick Baldwin and other characters from the Face Down series reappear in this novel. Murder in the Merchant's Hall reunites Rosamond with her old friend Lina (Face Down Beside St. Ann's Well) and with Lady Appleton, to solve the murder of Lina's brother-in-law. In Murder in a Cornish Alehouse, Rosamond and Rob investigate the suspicious death of her stepfather, Sir Walter Pendennis, and once again encounter spies. They also have to deal with Cornish pirates.

"Fans of Emerson's historical mysteries will be intrigued by the debut of grownup Mistress Rosamond Jaffrey as 'intelligence gatherer' in this first in a new Tudor series. Emerson draws on her solid knowledge of the period to evoke vividly daily life in late 16th century England." Publisher's Weekly

"First rate storytelling, a taut and riveting plot, unexpected humor, and a charming and admirable heroine." Booklist
