Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace, known as Edgar Wallace (1875-1932), was an English writer and journalist whose prolific literary output has left an indelible mark on the thriller and detective fiction genres. Born in Greenwich, London, Wallace was adopted from a poor background and went on to become a correspondent during the Second Boer War for the Daily Mail.
