I couldn't look in the mirror without wanting to disappear. No one knew, because I wore a smile like armor. But I was breaking.
Until one night, alone in my room, I started watching a film about a hero. Not a flawless one.
A broken one. A character beaten by life but who still stood up, still fought, still chose to keep going.
And something sparked.
I began to mimic what I saw. I started coaching myself through the worst of days by asking, "What would a hero do?
" I wasn't trying to become someone else. I was trying to remember who I'd buried underneath the pain.
