Alicia Stonecastle is a children's author who is passionate about history. That's why her books are a wonderful mix of historical references and flights of imagination. A self-proclaimed prankster, her writing is full of 'trickster energy', balled up with world history, ancestral narratives, and the need to tell a great story.A serial hobbyist, Alicia is never happier than when she's working on one of her many projects. She is always looking for opportunities to learn something new and aims to do this with everything she puts her hand to. For example, when writing The Kingdom That Never Existed she learned about Sutton Hoo and the East Anglian northern pool frog!Alicia started writing as a way to channel her imagination. Using her creativity in any way is something that she finds relaxing, and her other hobbies (of which there are many) include Halloween costume-making, sewing clothes for her daughters and family members, and world travel. As mentioned, Alicia loves a prank. She also has no qualms about living her best life. You may spot her in traffic with one of her daughters, belting out a Celine Dion or Metallica song, even if the notes are slightly out of range!Alicia is dedicated to family in a deeper way than most. She believes that raising her three daughters has been her greatest achievement. Her foremost aim is to develop a good understanding of ourselves, where we came from, and how our ancestors went about surviving and thriving in the world before it was ours - the chain of events that made us who we are now. Transparency, ingenuity, and empathy are her central values.
