"These women know me like no one else. Because they know how words can shatter bones."
Once a month, Sharon walks the sterile corridors of the children's hospital, her son's tiny, sweat-slick hand wrapped in hers. Around them, time stands still-measured not in hours, but in blood draws, yellow hazard stickers, and the silent nods of mothers who understand.

A Long Blue Ribbon is a raw, lyrical memoir of motherhood in the trenches of chronic illness. Told with brutal honesty and poetic grace, it captures the unspoken grief, fierce hope, and deep sisterhood forged in fluorescent-lit waiting rooms and hospital escalators.

This is not just a story of medical charts and monthly appointments-it's a quiet war cry from the hearts of mothers who endure, endure, endure.

A love letter. A confession. A reckoning.

For every parent who's ever whispered We don't belong here, and walked on anyway.

Autorenporträt
Sharon Rodgers is an Australian writer, teacher, and mother whose words cut deep and linger long after the final sentence. With a background in special and inclusive education, she writes with raw clarity about love, resilience, and the quiet devastations of motherhood. Her work draws from lived experiencenavigating hospital corridors, diagnoses, and the daily heartbreaks and triumphs of parenting a child with chronic illness.

Sharon's voice is lyrical, unflinching, and deeply human. She writes to tell the truth, to bear witness, and to offer a hand to those walking the same invisible path.

A Long Blue Ribbon is her love letter to the silent sisterhood that exists behind waiting room doors.

She is currently working on her debut novel, The Kairos Protocol, a dystopian romantasy set in a fractured future where memory is currency and rebellion is survival.
