James is a prolific writer, with over thirty children's books to his name. Yet he remains reluctant to take praise or compliments and always shuns the limelight.

He often says, 'It's the story that matters, not the author.'

Born in Yorkshire, James has his ancestral roots are to be found in Wales and Devon, and often takes inspiration from real places.

He became a writer in 2001, but it wasn't until 2021, after a life-changing event, that James wrote his first children's book. The Musings of the Milliner soon became a seven-book series.

James then created The Adventures of Albert Mouse, which now has sixteen books in the series and is delighting children everywhere.

He lives in Oxfordshire and writes full-time.
