Throughout the book, Stephanie shares some of her own messy middle, by taking the reader on a journey with her as she processes her own disappointment coming out of a divorce. She lets you in on a few of her intimate conversations with God as she processes her own disappointment, to encourage her readers to be real with God about what's in their heart, so that he can heal their heart. The Messy in the Middle isn't a book about over-spiritualizing the disappointments life throws our way, but rather about facing the disappointment life throws our way, because there is no good story without a little messy in the middle.
