Not since the release of A Framework for K-12 Science Education has a document held such promise and significance for the science education community as does the Next Generation Science Standards. Harold Pratt, a career district science coordinator and a former NSTA president, is a consultant working in all areas of science education. He was a senior program officer at the National Research Council during the development of the National Science Education Standards. He is the recipient of NSTA's Robert H. Carlton Award and the coauthor of a number of science textbooks and articles.
