The first was Nairobi, where he had been in the 1960s, right after Kenya won its independence from the British Empire, where he spent most of his time in the African bush with people who lived there, when game of every variety and species were ubiquitous. The second was Berlin. He first went there as a US Army Intelligence analyst, when it was still a divided city, before the Wall was even built, let alone torn down. Next was London, where he had also been in the 1950s. He then returned to New York where he began his careers as writer, actor and producer in the 1960s and 70s. And finally to his hometown in Ohio where he learned the meaning of the expression: dysfunctional family.
