Produktbeschreibung
Damon Richardson is a young, Ivy League-educated African American who was raised in a comfortable, integrated suburb. Confident in his abilities and convinced that his background shields him from racial prejudice, he lands a job at an advertising firm where he hopes to quickly climb the career ladder. Josh Ford works at the same firm, yet has a vastly different past. He grew up in the projects and was educated at a historically Black college. Despite their differing backgrounds, the two become inseparable, sharing morning coffees and dreams. When Damon's supervisor unexpectedly offers him a high-profile project, he assumes it's a reward for his talent and hard work. He couldn't be more wrong as he distances himself from Josh to prepare for the important presentation, leaving the friendship in jeopardy. When Damon is eventually promoted, he discovers two painful truths that reveal the complex and insidious workings of power and privilege in society. In this thought-provoking story, a young Black man who believes he is on track to attaining professional success soon learns that unearned privilege can destroy both career aspirations and personal relationships.
