Dr. Sander, a former freelancer in various security fields, is called back into action: Using his old connections in South Africa, he is tasked with finding out what happened to the nuclear weapons that South Africa produced in excess of the official number of six bombs. Sander's task is complicated by the fact that he is on the hit list of a killer hired by a radical black organization who still wants to complete his mission. Gathering information takes Sander to southern Italy, South Africa, Mozambique, and finally Uganda. The novel provides a fictional backdrop to past and present crises surrounding Iraq and Iran, which are stops on the "journey" of the nuclear weapons in question. Henko Sander (who occasionally used the pseudonym "Gordo von Sawensky") was born in Vienna in 1945 to a Jewish father and a German mother.After graduating from high school, he studied history, politics, and linguistics in Vienna, London, and at UCLA-Santa Barbara. After earning his doctorate, Sander worked as a freelance consultant for international banks, a profession he still pursues today. He currently lives in Tel Aviv and Knysna, South Africa.
